Continuous rainfall in various parts of West Bengal, including Kolkata, has resulted in waterlogged roads being cleared in the city. However, neighboring areas like Bidhannagar continue to grapple with flooding. In the village of Mohammadpur Dhalipara in Rajarhat, numerous homes are submerged in rainwater. Local residents have raised concerns that a canal in the Mohammadpur area was filled by a construction company, obstructing the natural flow of water and causing flooding in the vicinity.

The flood situation has persisted for nearly 15 days, severely impacting the lives of residents. Many are unable to leave their homes, including the elderly and schoolchildren. Promised drainage infrastructure to address the issue has not been implemented, and the rising water level has increased the risk of snakes and insects entering homes.
